1JRC invites applications from candidates who have completed or are enrolled in the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) who intend to practise at the Hong Kong Bar. Pupils work closely with their pupil master and other members of Chambers and may assist with legal research, drafting, case preparation, and court work.
Applicants for pupillage should normally apply approximately 12 months before the intended commencement of pupillage.
Candidates are assessed on merit.
1JRC generally offers two-week mini-pupillages to law students interested in practising at the Hong Kong Bar. Most mini-pupillages are offered during the summer months.
Mini-pupillage provides an opportunity to observe the work of practising barristers and gain insight into life at the Bar. Mini-pupils may attend court hearings, observe conferences (subject to client consent), and undertake limited legal research or drafting tasks at the discretion of their supervising barrister.
The deadline for Summer 2026 mini-pupillage applications is 31 May 2026. Late applications will not be considered.
All applicants must provide the required documents in PDF format.
Send all application materials to pupillage@1jrc.com.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a brief in-person interview.
Personal data provided in connection with an application will be used solely for assessing the application and administering the recruitment process.
